On international flights, liquids in cabin baggage are restricted (MLIT: restrictions on liquids in aircraft cabins on international flights). Under ICAO standards, liquids must be in containers of 100 ml or less, placed in one resealable transparent plastic bag of 1 L or less per passenger. Security screening on departure from Malaysia follows the same ICAO standards, but details such as bag size and duty-free STEB handling vary, so confirm with your airline and Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Sauces such as sambal, honey, and perfume all count as liquids.

Pharmaceuticals and quasi-drugs may be brought in with customs confirmation only, up to a 2-month supply based on dosage instructions. Prescription drugs and poisonous/powerful drugs are limited to a 1-month supply, and topical preparations (excluding those categories) to 24 standard-size units per item. Household medical devices are limited to one set. Exceeding these limits requires the MHLW import confirmation procedure.
