Sources and their roles

• Names, addresses, hours, prices — official sites and social feeds first, then multiple map/booking services, then field checks. Conflicts between official and third-party data are recorded as conflicts, not silently resolved.
• Ratings — dated snapshots (value, count, check date) from Google Maps, Tripadvisor, OpenRice and Tabelog. Tabelog coverage in KL is partial; venues without it are not penalised.
• Michelin — distinction, year and official link only; no copied text or photos.
• Halal — “Halal-certified” only with verified certification (e.g. JAKIM); otherwise labelled as self-declared, pork-free, etc.
• Social & local media — buzz indicators only; local outlets (EatDrink KL, Time Out KL and others) are summarised and linked, never reproduced.

Collection policy

• We respect robots.txt and terms of service; sources with unclear terms default to no automated fetching.
• No CAPTCHA circumvention, no login bypassing, no aggressive crawling.
• No automated scraping of Google Maps or Tripadvisor — ratings are research snapshots taken by humans/AI.
• No bulk storage of review texts, no reposting of other sites' photos or copy.

Photography

We currently publish no venue photos, because we do not repost images from Google, Michelin, Instagram or other sites. Photos will be added only from J-Catalyst's own shoots, venue-provided material, or properly licensed sources — each with tracked provenance.
