A warrior who served Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi. In 1590 he became lord of Suwa with 27,000 koku and built Takashima Castle on the shore of Lake Suwa.
The lakeside "floating island" he chose for the castle held a fishing village, and he is said to have moved the entire village to make way for it.
