井伊直継
Ii Naomasa's eldest son. He became lord after his father's death and began building Hikone Castle on Mt. Hikone in July 1604.
The work was rushed with full shogunate support and help from nearby daimyo; the keep was finished around the turn of 1606-1607. Around the time of the Sieges of Osaka his younger brother Naotaka took over and completed the castle.
