A warlord who served Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Given the whole of Sanuki Province in 1587, he began building Takamatsu Castle on the shore the following year.
When he built the castle, Chikamasa renamed the area, until then called Nohara, as Takamatsu, the origin of the city's name today.
