Chief elder of the Hachisuka family's Tokushima domain. As castle warden of Awaji, he led the Yura move of 1631–1635, which shifted the castle and town from Yura to Sumoto.
Historical record
Story
Records say the samurai houses at Yura had no enclosure and waves even washed up to Shigetane's residence. Because Yura was also hard to reach, he obtained the shogunate's permission to move castle and town to Sumoto, which became Awaji's center again after about a quarter of a century.
