吉川広家
A warlord from a branch of the Mori clan. After the Battle of Sekigahara he was given Iwakuni, where he built Iwakuni Castle on Shiroyama and became the first lord of Iwakuni.
Before Sekigahara, Hiroie judged that the Western Army could not win and secretly agreed with Tokugawa Ieyasu's Eastern Army that the Mori troops would stay out of the fight in return for keeping the Mori lands. After the battle, evidence surfaced that Mori Terumoto had actively led the Western Army, and Ieyasu planned to strip the Mori and give their lands to Hiroie instead. Hiroie pleaded for the Mori family to survive, and it was allowed to keep two provinces, Suo and Nagato.
