松平信綱
A senior councilor of the Tokugawa shogunate who became lord of Kawagoe in 1639 and extensively rebuilt the castle.
The Nakanomon moat, designed to stop attackers heading from the west main gate to the main enclosure, is thought to date from his rebuilding. In 1648 he donated a portable shrine and other equipment to the Hikawa Shrine festival, which is said to have grown into today's Kawagoe Festival.
