松平定行
A daimyo and nephew of Tokugawa Ieyasu. He moved from Kuwana in Ise to Matsuyama in 1635 with a 150,000-koku domain, and his descendants, the Matsudaira (Hisamatsu) family, ruled Matsuyama until the Meiji Restoration.
He is said to have rebuilt the inner citadel and reshaped the keep into three tiers. While guarding the port of Nagasaki he reportedly fell for a Portuguese sweet and brought the recipe back to Matsuyama, which is said to be the origin of the local cake called 'taruto'.
