丹羽長重
A daimyo who moved from Tanagura in 1627 to become the first lord of the Shirakawa domain. On shogunate orders he spent about four years from 1629 rebuilding Komine Castle, walling its main and second enclosures in stone.
His rebuild is said to have shifted the Abukuma River's flow to the north side of the castle and filled in the old riverbed to create the second and outer enclosures. The castle's present layout dates from this work.
