小笠原忠真(忠政)
Builder of Akashi Castle and first lord of the Akashi domain, known as Tadamasa when he built it and later renamed Tadazane. Both Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu were his great-grandfathers. He moved to Kokura in Buzen in 1632.
Ieyasu is said to have praised his fierce fighting in the 1615 Osaka Summer Campaign by calling him "my demon grandson." Ordered by the second shogun Hidetada in 1618 to build the castle, he chose its site and building layout together with his father-in-law, Honda Tadamasa of Himeji.
