斎藤道三
A Sengoku-period ruler of Mino who developed Inabayama Castle and the town of Inokuchi, drove out his lord Toki and took control of the province. He married his daughter to Oda Nobunaga.
Gifu City explains that the famous story of an oil peddler who seized a province was in fact achieved over two generations, by Dosan and his father Nagai Shinzaemon-no-jo. In 1556 Dosan was killed fighting his son Yoshitatsu by the Nagara River.
