Genbao Castle
玄蕃尾城
Shibata Katsuie made this his headquarters for the Battle of Shizugatake and left without fighting here, so the earthen castle survives on a border ridge much as it was in 1583.

柴田勝家
One of Oda Nobunaga's leading generals and lord of Kitanosho Castle in Echizen. After Nobunaga's death he clashed with Hashiba Hideyoshi, made Genbao Castle his headquarters in the 1583 Battle of Shizugatake, and was defeated.
At Shizugatake, Katsuie withdrew from Genbao Castle without fighting there. The castle was left untouched, so its form from the time of the battle can still be seen.
