Tsutsui Sadatsugu

筒井定次

A daimyo who moved from Koriyama in Yamato to Iga in 1585 and built Iga Ueno Castle as an early modern castle. He was stripped of his domain in 1608.

Story

He placed the main enclosure on the hilltop with a three-tiered keep toward the east; that keep is thought to have collapsed around 1633. An Iga-ware water jar excavated from his main enclosure, known as "Tsutsui Iga," is displayed in the keep today.
