Ukita Hideie

宇喜多秀家

Son of Ukita Naoie and one of the most powerful lords under Toyotomi Hideyoshi. He began building Okayama Castle in 1590, and its keep is said to have been finished in 1597.

Story

He fought as a leading commander of the Western army at Sekigahara in 1600, lost, and was exiled to Hachijojima in 1606. The tall walls of natural stone he built by 1597 still stand at Okayama Castle.
