A daimyo and son-in-law of Oda Nobunaga who came to Aizu in 1590 after Toyotomi Hideyoshi reorganized the northeast. He rebuilt the castle with stone walls and moats, raised a keep, named it Tsurugajo, and renamed the town from Kurokawa to Wakamatsu.
