阿麻和利
Lord (aji) of Katsuren Castle who rose to power in the mid-15th century. In 1458, as commander of the royal army, he attacked and destroyed Gosamaru at Nakagusuku; he is said to have been destroyed by the royal army himself soon after.
In the royal court's version he falsely accused Gosamaru of plotting rebellion so he could seize power, and kumi-odori dramas cast him as the villain. Others argue he was a hero to the farmers; the Nakagusuku official site calls the episode the greatest mystery in Ryukyuan history.
