市川量造
A local official in Matsumoto who, in the early Meiji era, saved the castle keep from demolition by turning it into an exhibition hall.
In 1872 the keep was sold off at auction. Ryozo petitioned the prefecture to hold off demolition for ten years, offering money raised from supporters, and organized exhibitions inside the keep. Five were held between 1873 and 1876, and thanks to them the keep survived.
