Torii Tadamasa

鳥居忠政

A daimyo and retainer of the Tokugawa. He became lord of Yamagata in 1622 after the Mogami family was dispossessed, and his major rebuilding gave Yamagata Castle roughly the shape it has today.

Story

Yamagata City notes that besides rebuilding the castle, he relocated temples, carried out land surveys, and undertook a major project to reroute the Mamigasaki River, which then flowed through the town.
