Oda Nobunaga

織田信長

The Sengoku warlord who unified Owari province. In 1567 he seized Inabayama Castle, renamed it Gifu Castle, and for about ten years, until moving to Azuchi in 1576, used it as his base for unifying Japan.

Story

He renamed not only the castle but also the town 'Gifu'. At his residence site at the foot of the mountain, gardens built around giant stones and bedrock have been excavated, and the missionary Luis Frois visited and described the castle.
