A Vietnamese-made anti-personnel mine found at demining sites in Cambodia. It is officially recorded as one of the anti-personnel mines that CMAC keeps for research, training, and museum display.

Classification: Anti-personnel mine

If you find one: If you find something that might be a landmine or unexploded ordnance, never approach or touch it. Leave the area and tell an adult, the police, or the local authorities.

History

The Landmine Monitor 2010 records an accident in which a worker was slightly injured by a Vietnamese-made MD82B mine during clearance work. According to CMAC, the Vietnamese (North Vietnamese) army first laid mines in Cambodia in 1967, and mines made in various countries, including Vietnam, were brought into the country between Vietnam's 1979 invasion of Cambodia and its withdrawal in 1989, as well as during the civil war that followed. In the Cambodian government's Article 7 report, the MD82B is declared as one of the anti-personnel mines that CMAC keeps and transfers (for museum display in Siem Reap, training, and research).
