Norwegian People's Aid
A Norwegian humanitarian organization founded in 1939. Active in Cambodia since 1992, it focuses on surveying and clearing Vietnam War-era cluster munitions in Ratanakiri province in the east.
Activities
It conducts Cluster Munition Remnants Surveys (CMRS) to find where cluster munitions remain, and carries out clearance. It also puts effort into recruiting and training women's teams, teaching women skills such as mapping and demolition. It works in cooperation with CMAC and CMAA.
Achievements
It began working in Cambodia in 1992 (initially supporting refugees returning from Thailand) and, including its cooperation with CMAC, has released more than 155 million square meters of land (cumulative total according to its official website as of 2026). (Target year: 2026) [Ref 0049]
Since 2013, it has surveyed and cleared in Ratanakiri province in the east, which is heavily affected by cluster munitions, and 25 women have been trained to find and dispose of cluster munitions. (Target year: 2013) [Ref 0049]
