Ratanakiri
A province in northeastern Cambodia near the Lao and Vietnamese borders; its capital is Banlung. Its population in the 2019 census was about 217,000. Landmines are almost fully cleared, but unexploded ordnance contamination from US bombing remains.
Landmine situation
As of July 1, 2025, the estimated anti-personnel mine contamination is very small, at about 0.17 km2 (170,352 m2), and the CMAA is reported to expect a mine-free declaration by the end of 2025. (Target year: 2025) [Ref 0084]
UXO situation
One of the eight eastern provinces with confirmed contamination by cluster munition remnants (CMR) from US bombing during the Vietnam War. The baseline survey (2009-2018) recorded about 54.3 km2 of CMR contamination, and new contamination continued to be reported outside the surveyed areas. (Target year: 2019) [Ref 0085]
