Battambang
A province in northwestern Cambodia on the Thai border; its capital is Battambang. Its population in the 2019 census was about 1 million, and it has the largest area of anti-personnel mine contamination in the country.
Landmine situation
As of July 1, 2025, the estimated anti-personnel mine contamination is about 209.8 km2 (209,791,037 m2), the largest in the country. It rose sharply from about 81.3 km2 at the end of 2024, reflecting the results of the comprehensive survey of the Thai border area that began in November 2024. In 2024, many operators including CMAC, HALO, and MAG carried out clearance in the province. (Target year: 2025) [Ref 0084]
