世界のウニ漁の中心のひとつ。生殖巣は冷凍・生鮮で日本へ運ばれ、1998〜2002年の統計では生鮮生殖巣の対日輸出で米国に次ぐ規模だった。One of the world's great urchin fisheries. Roe travels to Japan fresh and frozen; in 1998–2002 Chile was the second largest supplier of fresh roe to Japan after the United States.
