Japan Mine Action Service (JMAS)
A certified Japanese non-profit organization that supports the clearance of landmines and unexploded ordnance. It began its work in 2002 with UXO clearance in Cambodia.
Activities
In Cambodia, Laos, Palau, and the Federated States of Micronesia, it focuses on clearing landmines and unexploded ordnance, and also builds roads, prepares farmland, and supports farming skills. In Cambodia, it continues demining and reconstruction support in Banteay Meanchey province, and cluster submunition clearance and agricultural support in Stung Treng province.
Achievements
In July 2002, it began its work with UXO clearance in Prey Veng province, Cambodia. (Target year: 2002) [Ref 0061]
It began demining in 2006, introduced an anti-personnel demining machine in 2008, and also started building roads, reservoirs, and schools. (Target year: 2008) [Ref 0061]
