Komatsu's Anti-personnel Mine Clearance and Community Development Support
Activities in which Komatsu provides anti-personnel demining machines it developed itself and works with JMAS on mine clearance and building roads and schools.
Overview
Komatsu developed an anti-personnel demining machine in 2003 with support from the government (NEDO), and has worked in Cambodia with JMAS as its partner since 2008. The initiative builds roads and elementary schools on land cleared of mines, turning it into land where people can live in safety. Since 2016, the work has also expanded to UXO countermeasures in Laos.
Outcomes
By 2025, 10 elementary schools had been built in Cambodia. Scholarships are also provided (25 students in 2025). (Target year: 2025) [Ref 0065]
