JMAS Landmine and UXO Clearance Operations in Cambodia
Landmine and UXO clearance and reconstruction support in Cambodia, which the Japanese NPO JMAS has continued since 2002.
Overview
The work began with UXO clearance in Prey Veng province in 2002, and demining started in 2006. Today, JMAS continues demining and reconstruction support in Banteay Meanchey province, and cluster submunition clearance and agricultural support in Stung Treng province. On cleared land, it also builds roads, reservoirs, and schools, and develops rice paddies and farmland.
Outcomes
Since 2008, it has used anti-personnel demining machines and built roads, reservoirs, and schools. (Target year: 2008) [Ref 0061]
Funding
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan continuously supports JMAS's demining activities through the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects and other schemes. [Ref 0051]
