Japan-Cambodia Mine Action Training for Third Countries
An initiative in which CMAC, strengthened with Japan's support, works with Japan to train people from countries around the world that suffer from landmines.
Overview
Since 2010, Japan and CMAC have worked together to provide mine action training to government officials from 11 countries, including Colombia, Iraq, Ukraine, South Sudan, and Laos. In July and August 2023, staff of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine received training on Japanese-made mine detectors and demining machines.
Outcomes
Since 2010, more than 500 people have received training. The program has grown to cover 11 countries, including Colombia, Iraq, African countries, and ASEAN countries. (Target year: 2024) [Ref 0059][Ref 0051]
