Market manners

The Outer Market publishes its own rules. Here they are in plain English.

These are from the market association's own list. Following them is how you stay welcome.

1. Before 9 AM, professional buyers come first. If someone is buying for a restaurant, step aside.
2. Do not eat while walking. Eat inside the shop, at its front, or in a designated spot.
3. Put suitcases in a coin locker. The streets are narrow.
4. Do not walk in a large block. Keep children by the hand.
5. Ask before taking photos of a shop. Some shops post no-photo signs.
6. Do not touch the goods. Pressing fish lowers its value.
7. Do not haggle. These are wholesale-priced shops; bargaining is not a custom here.
8. Smoke only in designated smoking areas.
