J-Catalyst LLC (the "Company") sets out this Privacy Policy (the "Policy") for the handling of user information in the publishing platform "BOOK://" (the "Service"). The Service holds deeply personal material — your manuscripts and photographs. Precisely because of that, this Policy states clearly what we collect, what we use it for, and what we will never use it for.
1. Operator
J-Catalyst LLC (Representative: Masami Oginuma)
Contact: oginuma@gmail.com
2. Information We Collect
- Account information — email address, display name, author name, password (stored encrypted; the Company cannot see the original string).
- Content — manuscripts, notes, photographs, audio, documents entered or uploaded by the user, and answers given in the AI interview.
- Payment information — transaction details notified by PayPal (order number, amount, payment status). Credit card numbers are handled by PayPal and are not collected by the Company.
- Usage data — access logs (date and time, IP address, browser type), in-service activity records, cookies.
- Inquiry information — the name, email address, and message entered in the contact form.
3. Purposes of Use
- Providing the Service (book production, AI assistance, creation of publishing data, data storage)
- Identity verification and maintaining login sessions
- Payment processing and purchase-history management
- Responding to inquiries
- Preventing fraudulent use and keeping the system secure
- Improving the Service, using statistics that identify no individual
- Delivering important notices (changes to terms, changes to the Service)
- Responding to legal obligations
4. External Transmission for AI Processing — and No Training Use
- The Service's AI features use Anthropic's Claude via API. When the AI performs structuring, drafting, translation, or similar processing, the content needed for that processing is transmitted through the API to Anthropic's servers.
- The Company operates under settings whereby API inputs and outputs are not used to train the foundation model. The Company never provides user content for AI model training.
- Details are in How We Use AI.
5. Disclosure to Third Parties
The Company does not provide users' personal information to third parties, except:
- with the user's consent;
- where required by law;
- where necessary to protect a person's life, body, or property and obtaining the user's consent is difficult.
The Company never sells or provides users' personal information or content to advertisers.
6. Processors We Rely On
To provide the Service, processing is entrusted to the following parties, in each case limited to what the Service requires:
- Server hosting and data storage: the hosting provider contracted by the Company
- AI processing: Anthropic (as described in Section 4)
- Payment: PayPal Pte. Ltd. (payment information is also subject to PayPal's privacy policy)
7. Cookies
The Service uses cookies necessary for maintaining login sessions and for security. It uses no advertising cookies and no third-party ad tracking. If analytics or similar tools are introduced in the future, this Policy will be revised and announced.
8. Retention and Deletion
- Content is retained for as long as the user holds an account.
- Users can export (download) their project data from the settings screen.
- Deleting an account deletes its content. Records the law requires us to keep, such as transaction records, are retained for the legally mandated period.
- Complete erasure from backups can take some time for technical reasons.
9. Security
The Company takes security measures appropriate to the nature of the information handled, including encrypted transmission, password hashing, and access-permission management. In the event of a leak of personal information, the Company will promptly notify affected individuals and report to the Personal Information Protection Commission of Japan, as required by law.
10. Requests for Disclosure, Correction, and Suspension of Use
Users may request disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, or suspension of use of their own personal information held by the Company. Please contact oginuma@gmail.com. After verifying identity, we will respond without undue delay in accordance with the law.
11. Minors
Minors should use the Service with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
12. Revisions to This Policy
This Policy may be revised in response to changes in law or in the Service. Material changes will be announced in advance within the Service.
