BOOK:// is a service that supports book-making with AI. What we ask the AI to do — and what we deliberately don't. How your manuscript is handled. This document states plainly what we believe users should know. It forms part of the Terms of Service.
1. The AI We Use
The Service's AI features use Anthropic's large language model "Claude", accessed via API (program-to-program communication). The specific model may change to maintain quality; significant changes will be reflected on this page.
2. What the AI Does — and Does Not Do
What the AI does
- Asks questions and draws out your story (the AI interview)
- Proposes chapters and structure from your material
- Drafts the body text and polishes the prose
- Proposes titles and descriptions
- Proposes translations and market-aware localizations
- Extracts proper nouns and helps build the glossary
What the AI does not do
- Add events, numbers, or statements that are not in your material
- Finalize any text without your confirmation
- Publish automatically to Amazon or anywhere else
- Use your manuscript for AI training
3. The "No Invented Facts" Design
- The AI writes from what you have said, the material you have uploaded, and your instructions.
- When a fact not present in your material becomes necessary — a date, a place, a name, a number, an event — the AI is designed to return it to you as a question, rather than fill the gap itself.
- Even so, AI text can contain errors and imprecise wording; current technology cannot eliminate this limitation. That is why every AI proposal in BOOK:// passes through a screen where you choose to apply it or discard it.
4. Training Use
- The Company never uses your manuscripts, photos, audio, or AI interview answers to train AI models.
- AI processing runs via API, operated under settings whereby API inputs and outputs are not used to train the foundation model.
- The scope of information transmitted to Anthropic's servers during AI processing is defined in the Privacy Policy.
5. Final Review Rests with You
- The final decision on whether generated text goes into your book is made by you, its author.
- In particular, please verify factual accuracy, the spelling of proper nouns, and the accuracy of quotations yourself before exporting. The pre-publication check assists your review; it does not perform the review for you.
- Responsibility for the content of the finished book rests with the user as its author (Terms of Service, Articles 5 and 7).
6. How We Think About AI's Role
BOOK://'s designer worked as an editor on books with about 1,000 people. An editor's job is not to invent a life or an opinion on the author's behalf — it is to draw out what is already in the author and give it shape. The Service's AI is confined to that same role. The lead character of your book is always your experience and your words.
7. Changes to This Explanation
If the AI we use or the design changes, this page will be updated. Significant changes will be announced within the Service.
