Some Japanese is left here on purpose. **Source titles** are given as published, so you can find the original. **Addresses are shown in Japanese as well as romanised**, because Japanese is what works in a taxi or a map app. Shop names keep the Japanese alongside for the same reason. Everything else — hours, closing days, prices, seating, how to get there, and the articles — is in English, translated from the Japanese edition rather than machine-translated on the fly.

    • Imported the 47 member shops of the Tsukishima Monja Promotion Cooperative from the cooperative's own page for each shop (address, telephone, opening hours, closing days, average spend, seats, payment methods, tags, prices of recommended dishes)
    • Added Yoshimiya (founded 1954, the oldest in Tsukishima) from the shop's own site
    • Imported 73 shops from the official shop list of KISSUI GROUP Inc. (formerly Kano Corporation): 15 brands across 14 prefectures
    • Added 7 shops outside Japan: 1 in South Korea, 2 in Taiwan, 2 in Thailand, 2 in Singapore, 1 in the United States
    • Added one Isesaki monja shop in Isesaki, Gunma, and two tarashiyaki shops in Oarai, Ibaraki
    • Searched 20 countries and territories in English and the local language. Shops confirmed in five. The 15 where nothing could be confirmed are listed too, as part of the result
    • Listed 6 regional dishes close to monja (tarashiyaki, Isesaki monja, monjiyaki, dondon-yaki, nikuten, issen-yoshoku), each with primary sources from a public body

    Go back over the shops serving tarashiyaki in Oarai using primary sources on the ground. There are likely more than the two listed officially, and the number of people who can make it is falling, so this is the top priority.

  2. 02

    Independent shops in Tokyo outside Tsukishima (Asakusa, Kinshicho, Jujo, Nishi-Ogikubo and so on), from primary sources other than the chains. This layer is almost entirely missing at present.

    The sweet-shop-style shops in Isesaki, from the guide map produced by the junior chamber of commerce.

    The discrepancy in member shop numbers (48 on the cooperative's site, 54 at the Ministry).
